چکیده

This paper presents a Chu spaces semantics of typical control flow of WS-BPEL including fault handling and link semantics. BPEL-CF is proposed as a simplification of this subset of WS-BPEL. For the compositional modeling of BPEL, the authors present a Chu spaces process algebra. This algebra allows faults to be thrown at any point of execution and take link-based synchronization into consideration. The paper gives the abstract syntax of BPEL-CF, the semantic algebra, and the valuation functions for computing the Chu spaces denotations of BPEL-CF programs. DOI: 10.4018/978-1-4666-2649-2.ch012

Verifying Business Rules Using an SMT Solver for BPEL Processes

WS-BPEL is the standard for modelling executable business processes. Recently, verification of BPEL processes has been an important topic in the research community. While most of the existing approaches for BPEL process verification merely consider control-flow based analysis, some actually consider data-flows, but only in a very restrictive manner. In this paper, we present a novel approach th...

Formal semantics and analysis of control flow in WS-BPEL

Web service composition refers to the creation of new (Web) services by combination of functionality provided by existing ones. This paradigm has gained significant attention in the Web services community and is seen as a pillar for building service-oriented applications. A number of domain-specific languages for service composition have been proposed with consensus being formed around a proces...

Selected Languages for Web Services Composition: Survey, Challenges, Outlook

An increasing adoption of e-commerce requires application systems and their business processes to be opened across organizational boundaries for combination with those of other business partners. Businesses offer more and more of their services by means of Web Services which are a standardized way of integrating applications over the Internet in a loosely coupled fashion. Building upon these of...

A Survey of Web services Orchestration and Choreography with Formal Models

The service-oriented architecture (SOA) promises a new generation of information systems applications based on a new set of standards for enabling self-describing interoperable Web services. Web service orchestration and choreography are both concerned with the composition of Web services to meet the needs of business processes. There are two important standards for modeling and implementing wo...

Complexity analysis of BPEL Web processes

Several organizations have already realized the potential of using WS-BEPL, the Process Execution Language for Web Services, to model the behavior of Web services in business processes. WS-BPEL provides a model for describing simple or complex interactions between business partners. In some cases, WS-BPEL process designs can be highly complex, due, for example, to the vast number of Web service...
